Peggy Ann Speas Howell, 79, of King, NC, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center.
Peggy was born in Forsyth County, NC, to the late Charles Julius and Mini Lou Newsome Speas on July 21, 1946. She was an avid animal lover and had previously helped rescue and rehabilitate horses, but she loved all animals. She liked to spend her time working on her arts and crafts and enjoyed jewelry making. She also enjoyed watching her afternoon soap operas. She made sure to find time to go fishing as often as possible. She was a member of Great Commission Community Church in King.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her niece, Peggy Danner.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, John Rutledge, Jr., a sister, Nancy Stewart, a nephew, Terry Speas, her granddaughter, Tiffany Brooks and her husband, Tristan, and her great-grandson, Jasper Brooks.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Great Commission Community Church in King, NC.
