Richard Eugene Epperson went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. He passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loved ones, due to complications from a chronic illness.
Mr. Epperson was born on July 8, 1948, in Surry County, NC, to the late Carl Eugene and Annie Mae Stevens Epperson. He worked as a landscaper with the city of Winston-Salem. He loved playing pool, drinking coffee, riding his scooters, and watching Westerns.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Annie Mae Epperson, his son, Michael Epperson, his brother, James Epperson, and his granddaughter, Shianne Destiny Grace Mickey.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Lisa Epperson; his son, Richard Epperson (Brandy); his brother, Ben Epperson (Rita); two sisters, Marylou King and Kathy Bennett; 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, one great-grandchild on the way, along with several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Slate Funeral Home, with Rev. Joe Fulk officiating. The family will receive friends and loved ones following the service. At Mr. Epperson’s request, his body will be donated to science.
