King – Robert Owsler Adkins, 73, of King, NC passed away peacefully, on Friday, March 4, 2022, at his home.
Mr. Adkins was born on February 25, 1949, in Stokes County, NC, to the late Robert William and Alma Lee Jones Adkins. He was a US Army Veteran, serving in the Vietnam war, where he earned a Bronze Star. He was a member of the American Legion Post 290 and was also a member of Poplar Springs Christian Church. Mr. Adkins retired from R.J. Reynolds after thirty-three years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Church, and two brothers, Charles, and Richard Adkins.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Carolyn Mickey Adkins; a daughter, Shannon Adkins; a son, Chad Adkins (Lori); a sister, Susan Adkins Warner; four grandchildren: Casey Culler, Carly Culler-Mize (Brandon), Courtney Reese, and Collin Reese; a great grandson, Cayden Culler; along with several special nieces, nephews, and special friends.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Monday, March 7, 2022, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, at Slate Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM in the chapel, with Minister Ralph Sproles officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Trinity United Methodist Church cemetery, with military honors given by the Army National Guard and the American Legion Post 290.
