Robert Edward Gordon, 72, of Tobaccoville, NC, passed away at home, surrounded by his beloved family on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.
Robert was born in Forsyth County, NC, on January 19, 1952, to the late Elmer Edward and Eldee Beatrice Adams Gordon. Robert was a hard working man and retired from Jerry Woods Automotive Group as the Parts Manager. He was a member of the Winston-Salem Corvette Club and Forsyth Ski Club, and an award-winning dancer.
The most magical part of Robert was that he was a member of the Santa Clause Club. Everyone who would see him in public would comment to how he looked like Santa. He would smile and even had a twinkle in his eye as he would surprisingly hand them a candy cane from his pocket. He loved the magic and surprise it brought children especially when he knew their names without asking. He would always remind them that Santa is always watching and that Jesus was the reason for the season.
Robert was a devoted Christian man. He loved Jesus and wanted all to know him. He was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in Winston-Salem where he served as an usher and security for the services. His last wishes was to make sure everyone knew that he loved the Lord and he was going home.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Smith, and a grandson, Aven Robert McCann.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sherri Gordon; a son, Marc McCann and wife, Nicole; his precious grandson, Corbin Ridge McCann; two sisters, Jane Taylor Wilson and Janet Hall and husband George; a brother-in-law, David Smith; three nephews, Ryan Smith, Adam Smith, and Kyle Hall; and three nieces, Ashley Taylor Ridge, Jennifer Taylor, and Christen Hall Tabor and an aunt Lee lla Gordon.
The family will receive friends and loved ones from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Grace Baptist Church. The funeral service will immediately follow, with Pastor Keith Hudak and Pastor Jim Bush officiating. The interment will be held at King Memorial Park by 2:45pm.
