Sheila Sue Haynes Ortiz, 62 of King, NC passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Village Care of King.
Sheila was born on August 24, 1961, to the late Gaythel Haynes and Clara Sue Frye. She was the widow of the late Robert Ortiz.
Sheila was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. She was a wonderful cook, and she found great joy in cooking for her family and friends. She adored her grandchildren. Everyone knew her as “Nana” and she always tried to take care of everyone. Sheila was the best friend to all of her daughters and is now their guardian angel. Sheila would lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it. She was the thread that held her family together. She was greatly loved and will be missed deeply.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Shenna Ortiz and husband Willie Hilterbrand, Sheri Nobles and husband Chad Nobles, and Shawna Ortiz; her grandchildren: Breana Ortiz and friend, R.J. Moorefield, Shayla Hilterbrand, Joshua Ortiz, Harley Nobles, and Nataleigh Huffman; a brother, Kevin McKnight; a sister Sherry Standridge, a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives; along with her childhood friends of forty-five years, Sue Eades, and Roxanne Nichols.
The family will receive friends and loved ones from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Slate Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 PM with Mr. Jeff Walker officiating.
