Shirley (Shields) Denny

Mrs. Shirley Denny, age 87, of King, NC, passed away Saturday, May 27th in her home.  She was born in 1936 to Robert Clyde and Rosa Shields of Forsyth County.  Shirley was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church for many years.   She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.   She enjoyed spending time with her family and her cats.

Shirley was employed by Hanes Hosiery for many years and served as a CNA at Mt. Airy Hospital. She worked alongside her beloved husband Sampson Denny in a variety of businesses and served in her most rewarding role as a stay-at-home mom.    

  Shirley was predeceased by her parents Clyde and Rosa Shields and her husband Sampson Denny of 40 years.

Shirley was loved and will be missed by her children, Sherry Whitaker and husband Jerry; Robert Dunnagan and wife Vanessa; Jeff Denny and wife Tommi; Cindy Hooker and husband Tim; her sister Joyce Moore and her husband Allen.  Her grandchildren Tyler, Brandon, Courtney, Jonathan, and Anna; her great-grandchildren Dayton, Case, Eli, and Everett.

Services will be held Wednesday, May 31st at Mt. Olive Church in King, N.C.:  Visitation at 1 PM; Funeral at 2 PM, with Pastor Mike Sands officiating.
