Shirley Ann Tucker Whitaker, 67, of King, NC passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home with her beloved family by her side.

Shirley was born on February 5, 1955, in Forsyth County, NC to the late Calvin Matthew and Vina Lee Speer Tucker.  She was a 1973 graduate of South Stokes High School.

Shirley loved the beach and enjoyed camping and fishing.  She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years, Billy Wayne Whitaker (12/8/2020)

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Kelly Johnson Whitaker, and wife Jessica; her son, Matthew Whitaker; her sisters: Sue Lawson and husband Ken, and Debra Thacker and husband Jeff; and her brothers: James Tucker, and Ron Tucker and wife Gene.

Due to past COVID restrictions, a joint service to honor Shirley and Billy will be held.  The family will receive friends and loved ones from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, December 26, 2022, at Slate Funeral Home.  Funeral services will begin at 11:00 pm in the chapel, with Pastor Darrell Price officiating.  Shirley and Billy will be laid to rest together at Stoney Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the service.
