Stephanie “Peppy” Denise Colbert Newsome Tate, 50, of King passed away after a brief illness on Saturday January 11, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem surrounded by her family and friends.

Born in Forsyth County to the late Johnny Wayne Colbert and the late Carolyn Ann Compton Walsh. She was the widow of the late Bryan Newsome and was preceded in death by her grandparents Claude and Margie Compton.

Stephanie was a 1992 graduate of South Stokes High School where she played softball. She was employed by National General Insurance as a statistical analyst for 30 years.She was great at her job and loved it. Her deep Christian faith and love of God were evident to all who knew her. She put her faith into action serving with  various ministries at First Christian Church in King . She served  in the nursery, as well as many children's ministry activities and as a live stream technician. She could be counted on to volunteer for numerous other opportunities. Peppy loved spending time and loving on her nieces and going to all their sporting events and activities. She was an avid reader and advocate for rescue animals including her own beloved bull mastiff rescue, Gunner. Peppy also cherished her gal pals (Bailee, Chancey, and Claudia) where you could find one you would find them all.

Left to cherish her memories is her husband, Darron Tate; daughter, Bailee Newsome ( Elan Muniz); stepson, Eli Tate; sister, Claudia Vaden (Derek ); Nieces Chancey (Justin), Paycee, Wrenlee and Kambree Gallimore, Kristin Jones, Sonya Vaden ; Bryan’s Parents, Barney “Paw Paw” and Sara “ Granna” Newsome, and their daughter , Lovena Newsome; Mother and Father in law, William “Bud” and Betty McMillan Tate; Brother in law, Rev. Darrell Tate (Tina); sisters in law, Sheila Ballew, Karen Pruitt (Ernie), Cindy Franklin and Shannon Phipps (Chad); Also special friends Lisa and James Chafin and her many work friends.

The family will receive friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025, at First Christian Church. A memorial service at 3:00 p.m. will follow, with Ministers Glenn Van Meter, Peter Cain, and Max Mason officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First Christian Church, 625 Meadowbrook Dr., King, NC 27021, for their youth expansion or to Friends of Stokes Shelter (FOSS), 1111 Dodgetown Rd, Walnut Cove, NC 27052.
