Tammy Jane (Merritt) Kiger

KING, NC – Tammy Jane Merritt Kiger, 57, of King, NC went to be with the Lord, Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. She was born on July 20, 1963 in Forsyth County to Bobby E. Merritt and the late Ruby “Jane” Hill Merritt. Tammy graduated from South Stokes High School and later in life she furthered her education and graduated from High Point University. She was a member of Haw Pond Church of Christ and she was a dedicated and hard worker of Hanes Brands, Inc. for over 30 years before she retired last year.

Tammy touched the lives of so many people who loved her dearly. She was a wonderful and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and “NaNa”. She thought the world of her family and would do anything for them. Tammy especially enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, playing bingo, and watching sports with her husband.  

She is preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Terry “Randy” Kiger and her mother Ruby “Jane” Hill Merritt.

Surviving is her father Bobby E Merritt of Stokes County; two loving daughters Brandy Honaker and Lindsay Cheatwood and husband Josh; three grandchildren that she cherished Matthew and Logan Honaker and Haylee Cheatwood; brother Darrell Merritt and sister Michele Smith and husband Scotty of Germanton. 

She will lie in-state on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 from 11:00AM until 7:00PM at Slate Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Mount Olive Baptist Church Cemetery 5413 NC 66 Hwy. S. King, NC.
