Teresa Cruise Adams, affectionately known as “Grond,” passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024, at the age of 72. Born on May 10, 1952, she was a beloved member of the Stokes County community, where she owned and operated her family restaurant, Adams Takeout, and co-owned the Main Street Diner for 17 years.
Teresa is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, David Adams; her son, Nathan Adams (Beth); and her daughter, Heather Adams (Tracy). She was a devoted Grond to Chloe and Carson Adams, Tabatha Weaver, and Amberlin Clark, who she cherished “to the moon, the stars, and back again.” She is also survived by her sister, Lynn Dobson (John).
Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Meredith Cruise; her brothers, Harlan and Bruce Cruise; her sister, Pamela Cruise; and her beloved yellow lab, Marley.
Family was the heart of Teresa’s life. She loved to cook and spent countless hours watching her children and grandchildren play baseball and softball. Family game nights filled with laughter and card games were a cherished tradition. She also enjoyed her daily soap operas, solving word-find puzzles, and birdwatching from her front porch.
Visitation will be held at Slate Funeral Home on Thursday, October 24, from 6 pm to 8 pm, and a graveside funeral service will be held at Deep Creek Friends Meeting in Yadkinville, NC, on Friday, October 25, at 12:00 pm.
Charitable contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Teresa’s honor.
Teresa will be remembered for her warm heart, unwavering love for her family, and the joy she brought to those around her. She touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
