King – Thelma Mae Smith Essick, 80, of King, NC passed away at her home on Saturday, August 8, 2020, with her beloved family by her side.
Mrs. Essick was born on November 24, 1939, in Stokes County, to the late John William and Lois Almalee Shelar Smith. She was retired from Atrium Windows and Doors and was a member of Poplar Springs Church of Christ. She found great enjoyment working in her yard, and she was an animal lover as well. She had a warm friendly personality and she never met a stranger.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Sue Essick Wood, a son, Jeffrey Lynn Essick, and two brothers: Ted Smith and Bill Smith, and a great grandchild, Jacob Wood.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Sharon Essick Miller and husband Michael, son, Michael Essick and wife Cynthia, brother, Bernie Shelar, grandchildren: Shane Wood, Meghan Miller Clark and husband Daniel, Bradley Essick, Aaron Miller and wife Alexis, and Caitlin Essick, a great grandson Grayson Clark and special friends, Preston Matlock, Lois Scales, and Dawn Combs
A memorial service will be held at Poplar Springs Church of Christ Cemetery on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Chuck Bower officiating.
