Thomas Marshall Huffman

Thomas Marshall Huffman, 90, of King, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 8, 2024.

He was born in Salisbury, NC, on January 23, 1934, to the late Anna Tyson Huffman and William Leonard Huffman.

He was preceded in death by one brother, David Huffman (Peggy), sisters Preston Lambert (Buzz) and Susan Morgan (Wayne), all of Salisbury, NC, and one sister, Lorraine Giordano (Sam) of Baltimore, MD. In addition to the above, he was preceded in death by his precious son, John Huffman of King.

Mr. Huffman is survived by Elsie Lankford Huffman, his wife of 67 years. They were married on September 1, 1957. Also surviving are one daughter, Susan Snyder (Billy) of King, daughter-in-law, Michelle Huffman of King, and five grandchildren: Tara Bodenhamer (Danny) of Rural Hall, Michael Barton of Rural Hall, Courtney Grabeman (Luke) of Westfield, Jordan Huffman (Chasity) of King, and Lauren McPherson (Nick) of China Grove. There are eleven great-grandchildren.

Tom served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951 to 1955, joining when he was 17 years old. He was stationed in Korea during the Korean Conflict. After his military service, he attended NC State University and graduated with a BS degree in Forest management. He worked for the US Forest Service for most of his career and worked in Mississippi, Tennessee, and Kentucky.

He had been an active member of Olive Grove Baptist Church for 47 years and loved his church family dearly. He loved the woods and, in his younger years, took his family on hikes in the Natural Forests.

Arrangements are as follows: visitation will be Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 11:00 to 12:00 at Olive Grove Baptist Church in Pinnacle, with a service immediately following.
