Tony Gray Spainhour, 78, of King, NC, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC, with his beloved family by his side.
Mr. Spainhour was born in Stokes County, NC, to the late Charlie Derman and Mary Evelyn Southern Spainhour. He retired from RJ Reynolds after 26 years of faithful service. Before working at Reynolds, he worked 12 years for Hertz Equipment Rentals in Winston-Salem.
He was a man who enjoyed life. He was an avid golfer, coached little league, and played softball for the Royal Cake Company. Tony had a deep passion for music, playing guitar, and singing with friends and family. He was a traditional country music fan who enjoyed listening to artists like Hank Williams, Merle Haggard, and Goerge Jones. Later in life, he became a fan of RFD TV, watching his favorite shows, such as Gunsmoke and Andy Griffith. Tony was an active member of Poplar Springs Christian Church, serving in various ministries for many years before his health began to decline. He was a man who never knew a stranger.
Above all else, he loved his immediate and extended family and found great joy in spending time with them all.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Jack Spainhour, Fred Spainhour, Melvin Spainhour, Ralph Spainhour, Kenneth Spainhour, Michael Spainhour, Norman Keith Spainhour, and sisters Audrey Spainhour Tuttle, and Elsie Spainhour.
