Rural Hall, NC – Viola Blackburn Westmoreland, 92, of Rural Hall, NC passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Forsyth Medical Center.
Those who knew her called her Granny. She was 92 of Rural Hall, NC. She left this life and went to be with her beloved husband John. L. Westmoreland and two of her three children, Dana R. Westmoreland, and Barry L. Westmoreland. She was the last of nine children of the late James A. and Lillie Culler Blackburn.
Viola graduated from Old Richmond school in 1949. She went on to attend Forsyth Tech and graduated in 1967 with an LPN in nursing; 17 years later she retired. Granny also worked for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools in Child Nutrition at Northwest Middle School for 19 years.
Her hobbies were cooking, gardening, road trips, and shopping.
Surviving are her son, Thomas J. Westmoreland, Cecelia B. Westmoreland, and very close family friends: Joe and Donna Hoffman. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kimberly D Westmoreland, Nikki W. Asbury (Travis), John S. Westmoreland, Chris Davenport (Amber), and Jacob Hoffman (Kayla) her great-grandchildren: Braxton, Jackson, Braydon, and Lincoln, Levi, Rydar and River along with numerous nieces and nephews that are left with a lifetime of love and memories. She is also survived by Barbara Westmoreland, and a brother-in-law, Jack Westmoreland
