Virginia Dale (Pyrtle) Marshall

Virginia Dale Pyrtle Marshall, 79, of Westfield, NC, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.  

Dale, a native of Stokes County, NC, born on July 17, 1944, to the late Samuel Joseph and Virginia Lois King Pyrtle, was a pillar of her community. She was a dedicated employee at Henredon Furnishings and was a steadfast member of Rock House Primitive Baptist Church, where her faith and commitment shone brightly.

Dale loved reading her Bible, and she read it over twenty times front to back. She loved giving to others, and it gave her great joy to do so. She was the definition of Charity, as defined in 1st Corinthians, Chapter 13. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed working with her family and friends in her vegetable garden.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gray Marshall; her father, Samuel Pyrtle; her mother, Virginia Lois Pyrtle; her twin sister, AnnieBell Pyrtle; two brothers, Randy Pyrtle and Lance Pyrtle; and a grandson, Joshua Shelton.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Rodney Marshall (Anna) of Westfield, NC; her daughter, Darlene Shelton (Marty Hester) of King, NC; her grandsons: Brandon Shelton (Angel) of King, NC, Corey Marshall (Tiffany), of Westfield, NC, Lawrence Marshall (Crissa) of Madison, NC, Joseph Marshall (Taylor) of Westfield, NC, Jerry “Neal” Marshall of Westfield, NC, and Daniel Marshall of Westfield, NC; her great-grandchildren: Eleanor Marshall, Alex Marshall, Jameson Marshall, Samuel Marshall, Carter Marshall, Emily Shelton, Katelyn Shelton, Elijah Shelton, and Adilynn Shelton; along with her brothers: Clarence Pyrtle (Kay) of Westfield, NC, Louis Pyrtle (Susannah) of Maryland, and Keith Pyrtle (Shelia) of Sandy Ridge, NC; and her sisters: Brenda Lankford (Donald) of Westfield, NC, and Kathy Pyrtle (Chris) of Tobaccoville, NC.

The family warmly invites all friends and loved ones to join them in remembering Dale on Friday, May 31, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Rock House Primitive Baptist Church.

The funeral service to honor Virginia Dale Pyrtle Marshall's life will be held at Rock House Primitive Baptist Church on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 2:00 PM. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in the church cemetery.
