Winston-Salem – Virginia Mae Raines Wester, 83, of Winston-Salem passed away May 13, 2023, at Oak Forest Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born August 17, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Melwood P. Raines and Virginia M. Kearney Raines.
Virginia was a homemaker and spent most of her life in or around Wilmington, NC, and Elizabeth City, NC. She was a true animal lover and cared for many cats and dogs through the years.
Those left to cherish her memory include her granddaughters, Melissa B. Hurdle (Brett), Erica G. Lane, Paige E. Harkness (Daniel), and Rachel F. McGlohon (Kenny); son-in-law, Kenneth Partridge; and great-grandchildren, Logan and Grant Hurdle, Brian and Dennis Lane, Jaxson, and Jase Harkness, and Kade and Carter McGlohon.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Maurice “Pete” E. Wester, Jr.; daughters, Debra Wester Partridge, and Kim Wester Mears; and brothers, Melwood “Bud” P. Raines, Jr. and Captain William “Billy” Raines, USN Ret.
A private celebration of life will be held for her close friends and family.
