William Clinton “Bill” Moore died peacefully at his home on July 13, 2023, after a brief illness. He was born on October 21, 1942, to William A. and Evelyn M. Moore. Bill graduated from King High School and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Milligan College, where he played varsity baseball.
Mr. Moore retired from Stokes County Schools after 33 years as an educator. He served as athletic director and was a much-beloved coach and mentor to generations of students. As an active member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, he also taught Sunday School and served on numerous committees. He enjoyed farming and woodworking and was well-known for his prize-winning canning and apple-cider skills.
In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by a special nephew, Travis Anderson.
Mr. Moore is survived by his wife of 43 years, Deanne Mellen Moore, and his children: Colon Moore, Julie Sedlacek (Jeff), Robyn Puckett (Grant), Erin Gray (Keith), and Jennifer Beasley (Mark). He was especially adored by his grandchildren: Jordan Furr (Alston) and Jacob and Addy Moore; Jeffrey, Emily Kate, and Sam Sedlacek; Alex, Aliza, and Allister Puckett; Lauren and Lily Kate Gray; and Avery Kate and Ella Beasley. He is also survived by his siblings Kathy Anderson (husband Charles and daughter Kimberly Ritchie) and Bobby Moore (Susan).
The family will receive friends at Mount Olive Baptist Church on Saturday, July 15, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the church at 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 16, 2023, with Rev. Gerald Jones officiating. Interment will follow at the Mount Olive cemetery.
